Life As I know It.

So I’ve been in college now for about week and a day and in all honesty just like I’m going to assume a lot of new freshman are I miss home a lot. At the same time I’m all excited and what not to be away from home and not having to tell my parents what I am doing every minuet of everyday, but I almost kind of miss that too. Wait, not really. I miss my parents and my sister, a few select friends who actually really care about me and I really miss my animals!

This is Sparkle my pretty lady, who I miss very much!

 

However, I am really looking forward to all the OS equestrian team stuff to get started! I am so ready to be riding a lot and to be apart of a team again. I miss playing soccer and being with all my soccer girls mucho.

Note: So I understand that lately all of my pictures that I have been posting are super crappy, this is all due to the fact that I am using my Blackberry to take pictures with lately. I did get a new digital camera before coming to school, however I still don’t have a memory card quite yet. As soon as I do I will be posting more pictures of around campus and of my dorm room! Which still isn’t finished being decorated yet! We haven’t had time to go shopping for a few things yet, but hopefully soon!!

 

If your one of my close friends reading this blog back home, know that I miss you all very much! Especially Jordan, Deidre, Kember, and all my other friends who went off to different schools who I won’t see till break!

Zombie Tag Blog Style.

Last night some friends and I had a failed attempt at playing Zombie Tag in a local park, which ended in just playing normal tag. However, it seems that I still wound up being "it" through my friends at "Who Does She Think She Is, Madonna?" They tagged me to fill out this questionnaire, so here I go!

1. Why did you start blogging:

I origionally started blogging to just put my thoughts down, a journal of sorts without pen and paper. I'm a much faster typer, but then I decided to write down my happenings as I started getting ready for college and decided to start this blog. Where I just blog about whatever I feel like. So basically, I started blogging because I thought it was a good idea and wanted to share anything and everything with others.

2.Do you prefer Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter?
I love Autumn and Winter the most! I love layering clothes and wearing tights and cute sweaters and I just love the cooler weather. I hate hot weather with a passion.
3. What did you notice first: Smokey eye makeup or bright lips?
I'm a huge fan of bright red lipstick, but I wore a smokey eye forever it seemed. So I am going to go with the smokey eye, but red lips are a very close second.

4. Who are your style icons?

Zooey Deschanel, I love her vintage chic style and her to die for always perfectly messy hair!
5. Describe your personality in 3 words.
Sarcastic, Caring, and outgoing. Oh, and I'm a classy one :)
7. Which era do you think influenced fashion the most?

40's-60's is in my opinion the best years of fashion. I love 50's mod. My style varies by day, but I almost always have some form of 60's jewelry mingled in.
8. What beauty item do you always repurchase?
Ivory, Cover Girl cover up.

So I find that I’ve been baking quite a bit over this past week.

My Thoughts On… The MTV Video Music Awards.

I think that in order to really put your name in from of the words “Video Music Awards”, your channel should really show music videos. Not marathons of Teen Mom, and why are most of the “Teen Moms” from Ohio? Are there no pregnant girls in Oregon? Anyways…

To me the VMA’s were a night of awkwardness, oddities, and poor fashion choices. The best fashion of the night I would say goes to Lady Gaga of course, and her thanks to the late Alexander McQueen was touching, where will her awesome shoes come from now with him gone?

 

If I could only see the top of Lady Gaga’s head in a swimming pool, I’d think some new breed of odd shark was coming to eat me…

I’m not to sure about my feelings about this meat dress, I feel like its like a serial killers fantasy or something like that,. but I’m really excited by the fact that Cher is in this picture, her hair looks wonderful!

Personally I thought the best performance of the night went to B. o B, and Hayley Williams, Airplanes is a beautiful song and both singers were actually into the performance. Unlike Rhianna and Eminem, Rhianna stood there awkwardly like a Zombie in a dooms day inspired outfit with bright pink hair, she looked like my gaming character from Fallout 3. While I love Eminem, Rhianna made the performance painful to watch and it got even more awkward with their very staged back to back ending that made you think you were watching a 5th grade talent show.

 

I adored Katy Perry’s dress and love her new “rainbow” hair, I’m thinking that upon moving to college I should try this :)

While some things about the night were rather ok, some rather awhile, others were rather pathetic, Taylor Swift’s forgiveness song to Kanye West was rather pathetic and Kanye West’s ending performance left this viewer wondering why the hell they would allow for Kanye to wrap the show up, when the few other good performers could’ve ended the show with a bang. Instead we all just turned off our television sets when Kanye took the stage. Way to keep viewers engaged MTV.

Blogger Awards

So one of my new favorite, everyday, down to earth type bloggers Tarleton West gave me the Versatile Blogger award! I’m not to sure what I did to deserve it, but it made me smile all the same to see someone that I don’t really know was interested in my blog!

Dorm Room Bliss Pt.2!

So quite a while ago I did a blog on dorm room decorating, and I just thought I’d showcase one of my favorite dorm rooms from one of my favorite new bloggers!

This is Piper Ellice’s dorm room, I kidnapped her dorm room pictures from her personal blog Tarleton West, with her permission of course. :)

The bar has now been set for how I want my little section of the dorm room to look when I move in over the next few days. 8 more days until I move to Corvallis!

My Chocolate Chip Gooey Peanut Butter Cookie Mash Up

Ok, so after posting a picture of my fair winning cookies on my Facebook mobile uploads a few people said they wanted my recipe. Just so you know this recipe is rather time consuming, but oh so delicious! These are cookies your grandma would be proud of :)

So First the recipe for the initial cookie:

1 1/4 C. Flour

3/4 tsp. Baking Soda

1/4 tsp. Salt

1/2 C. Butter

1/2 C. Peanut Butter

1 C. Chocolate Chips

1/2 C. Sugar

1/2 C. Packed Brown Sugar

1 Egg

1/2 tsp. Vanilla

1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees
2. Stir together flour, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a mixing bowl beat butter, peanut butter and sugars until fluffy.
4. Add egg and vanilla, beat well.
5. Add dry ingredients and beat until well combined.
6. Add chocolate chips

Set to the side!

Now your going to make your filling and topping!

1/4 C. Dry Roasted Peanuts, finely chopped

1/4 C. Granulated Sugar

1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon

1/2 C. Creamy Peanut Butter

1/2 C. Powdered Sugar

1. In a small bowl mix the peanuts, granulated sugar, and cinnamon, set to the side.
2. In another bowl mix together peanut butter and powdered sugar until completely blended. Shape into about 1/2in. balls.
3. Take your cookie dough and roll it into about 1in. balls than flatted then with your hand, take the peanut butter/powdered sugar balls and flatten with your hand.
4. Place the peanut butter/powdered sugar flattened ball on top of the cookie dough.
5. Fold the sides of the cookie dough over the peanut butter/powdered sugar center.
6. After you fold the edges and completely cover the center filling, roll the dough back into a nice ball careful not to let the center show.
7. Then take the ball and roll it in the peanuts, granulated sugar, cinnamon mixture.
8. Repeat, repeat!
9. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Flatten the cookies with a fork, but not as intensely as you normally would a peanut butter cookie, you DONT want the fork marks to show.
10. Bake for about 8 minuets, if the cookies are a little soft and gooey upon coming out of the oven just let this sit for a few minuets. I used parchment paper so I could just lift the cookies off the sheet to cool and replaced it with another sheet of parchment paper to bake more.
11. After the cookies are completely cool drizzle with melted baking chocolate! This makes them look wonderful, as well as taste even better!

 

So there’s my fair winning cookie recipe! I currently have these cookies at state fair and I should see how they did here real soon!

Girl Crushes.

After watching 500 Days of Summer I decided I should make a list of all my girl crushes. Do guys have guy crushes? To me a girl crush is not a girl that ya know… In elementary school terms “like, like that”. Its a girl who I find beautiful, dresses well, is an amazing actress (or is wonderful at whatever it is that she is doing), and is just someone I wouldn’t mind trading shoes with for a day.

So first and foremost Zooey Deschanel.

She is just to adorable, I love her hair! Her bangs are always so perfectly placed and she just looks so flawless while remaining so simple looking and of course it wasn’t enough to be beautiful, she had to be an amazing actress and a wonderful singer as well. I love how unique her voice is. If I could honestly trade faces with anyone it would be her. That’s not weird, right?

Moving on.. Dita Von Teese.

She is just so classically beautiful! She’s one of the reasons why I always try to remain pale and fell in love with red lipstick. Amongst my goals of learning how to sew, play guitar and learn how to knit, it is how to get that 60’s-esque hair style!

Kat Von D

One of the things my father always likes to say about people with lots of piercings and tattoos is that they don’t know who they are and that they are trying to create some false sense of identity through their tattoos. And while I don’t believe this at all for the most part, I’m sure it maybe true for some people. One of the things I really like about Kat Von D is that she gives off this vibe of really knowing who she is. For instance she is not the thinnest girl around, fat no, skinniest not exactly, but she wears whatever she wants and she just beams with confidence. A trait I wish I had.
